About Designer
When I was 4 years old, I remember making my Grandmother a family of Sea Turtles from sea shells I found on the beach and green bread clay my Mom made me. My Grandmother kept the little family of turtles on her rock collection table in her Florida room. They were always there when I went to visit. They were still there the day she passed on after living a very long full and happy life. I still smile every time I think of my Grandmother and those turtles.
Then when I was 14, I started working for a jewelry shop on the beachside making beaded silver jewelry and serving ice cream cones (they also owned the ice cream parlor next door). I really loved making the jewelry. I felt very creative for the first time in my life. I have been stringing beads ever since. My only real ‘dream’ growing up was to be a jewelry designer, make & string beads for a living. Eventually I realized that my ‘dream’ was actually very good therapy.
I took as many Art and Craft classes as I could find during my school and college years. I attended classes after school, after work, & on the weekends so that I could continue to perfect my craft. The last classes I have been able to take were a series in Precious Metal Clay in 2005 & 2006. I absolutely love working with precious metals & tools. They are challenging and I love to use heat and a lot of hammers & tools. I also make polymer clay beads, so colorful, lightweight, & pretty. All of my designs are totally lead free. I only use quality metals purchased directly from US refinery-manufacturers, so that I am sure of their purity & quality. 'Strung' creations are on very flexible professional beading wire.
I take my craft seriously and produce only beautiful quality designs that should, with proper care, last a lifetime or more. If you have any concerns about how to care for your piece, please contact me for care instruction.
I have always loved adventure and have traveled around our beautiful country and Mexico on many occasions. The people as well as the colors and shapes of everything in nature have always fascinated me. Many of my designs are inspired by the beautiful places I have been or a wonderful plant or interesting person I just saw. The rest just come to me when they want. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio and hope you enjoy looking at my designs and come back to see more in the future. I am always working on something new.
I live in San Diego County with my family.
Please contact me if you are interested in a personal piece or set, Bridal, Wedding, & Confirmation Jewelry as well.
